RALEIGH, NC ... The George Mason wrestling team had a rough day at the N.C. State Duals on Saturday, falling in each of its three dual meets. The Patriots lost to Colonial Athletic Association foe Binghamton (30-10), to host North Carolina State (29-15) and to Franklin & Marshall (23-16) as their record dipped to 1-3 overall, 1-1 in the CAA.

Junior Rob Becker won each of his three matches at 149 pounds, while junior Sandy Ailor (heavyweight) and sophomores Aaron Suranofsky (125) and P.J. Ross (174 and 184) each won twice to lead the Patriots.

Becker improved his season record to 15-4 with his three victories. He scored a 14-3 major decision over Binghamton's Joe Gartiser, won a 4-3 decision against N.C. State's Jake Giamoni and captured a 5-3 decision over F&M's Michael Parziale.

Ailor scored a 6-0 decision over Binghamton's Nick Cadmus and scored a 12-7 decision against N.C. State's Matt Gulliver. Suranofsky, who won by fall in the final match of the meet to lead the Patriots to a 21-20 victory at Campbell on Friday, took a 7-3 decision over Binghamton's Kyle Willard and scored an 11-3 major decision over Franklin & Marshall's Trent Dixon. Ross took an 8-0 major decision from N.C. State's Mike Waite at 174, then moved up to 184 and scored a 6-3 decision over Franklin & Marshall's Isaiah Hankel.

Senior Richard Appau and juniors Sean Early and Nick Webster also won matches for the Patriots. Appau won a 7-6 decision against Franklin & Marshall's Nathan Schy at 157, Early captured an 18-3 technical fall (in 6:25) at 157 over N.C. State's Mike Grochowski and Webster took a 7-6 decision in overtime against F&M's Tom Brinzer at 197.

Mason returns to action on Friday, Jan. 17, at Virginia Military Institute at 7:30 p.m. The Patriots will remain in Lexington for the Virginia Intercollegiate Wrestling Championships on Sunday, Jan. 19.
