Adam Norton begins his second season with the George Mason lacrosse program after being hired as an assistant coach in August 2012. Norton spent the previous two seasons at Jacksonville University.
In just his first season on staff at Jacksonville, Norton helped the Dolphins capture their first regular season championship as the team went a perfect 7-0 against National Lacrosse Conference opponents. With a 14-5 season finish, JU appeared in the conference tournament championship and earned a 2011 NCAA Division I scoring title, averaging 16.2 goals per game.
As the goalie coach, Norton mentored one of the top goalkeepers in JU lacrosse history as Karli Tobin ranked 16th in the nation in 2012 in save percentage and holds virtually all JU school records at the position. Additionally, Norton served as the offensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator and skills director.
Prior to joining the staff at JU, Norton spent two seasons at Stanford University as an assistant coach for one season and co-head coach for his final year with the Cardinal. While at Stanford, Norton helped the Cardinal to two Mountain Pacific Sports Federation lacrosse championships in 2007 and 2008 and a No. 10 national ranking. Capping his career at Stanford, he earned US Lacrosse "Co-Coach of the Week" honors alongside fellow co-head coach Jen Kasper.
In 2004, Norton became the director/owner of C4 Lacrosse, a company with a focus on camps, clinics and individual instruction. Norton has also served as the goalie selector for the Girls' National Tournament Mid-Atlantic teams and Under Armour Girls All-American tournament.
Norton also held coaching stints at St. Andrews Episcopal High School and Bullis School after serving as the assistant coach at Catholic University from 1998-99.
A four-year starting goalkeeper at Dickinson College, Norton captained the team and was named the Most Valuable Player as a senior in 1997. As a junior, he held the top single-game Division III save mark and set a Centennial Conference record for single-game goals allowed the following season. In 2004, he was named the Rookie of the Year.
A Washington, D.C. native, Norton graduated from Dickinson College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
