James Beasley enters his first season as graduate assistant coach of the George Mason baseball team for the 2022 season.
Beasley appeared in 23 games with five starts for the Patriots over three years from 2019-2021. He struck out 41 batters in 43 innings of work with the Green and Gold.
The Haymarket, Virginia native appeared in three games during the 2021 season before suffering an injury.
Beasley started a career-high four games during the 2020 campaign and struck out 13 in 14.2 innings.Â
During the 2019 season, he made a career-high 16 appearances and posted a 1-2 record and 4.70 ERA. He led the club in saves (4), was second in both lowest opponent average (.241) and ERA (4.70), tied for third in appearances (16), tied for sixth in strikeouts (21) and was eighth in innings pitched (23.0).
Beasley made 11 appearances at home during the COVID-19 shortened 2019 season, third-most on the club. He led the team with a 2.87 ERA and notched three of his four saves at Spuhler Field.
Prior to Mason, Beasley played at Hofstra University and Frederick Community College.Â
In 2018, Beasley made 14 appearances with four starts at Frederick Community College, posting a 4-1 record with one complete game and one save. He recorded 47 strikeouts with just 14 walks over 36.2 innings with the Cougars.
In 2017, Beasley appeared in nine games with Hofstra University, posting a 1-1 record.
Beasley attended Battlefield High School in Haymarket, Va., where he played baseball for four years. He was named All-Conference his junior and senior seasons.
