Sophomore Aidan Weltin was named EIVA Offensive player of the week on Monday. He continued to lead the Patriot offense over the weekend in Fairfax, recording a career-high 21 kills in his four sets played in Friday's win over Manhattan. He broke his previous record of 17 against LIU. Weltin led George Mason in kills the next day with 12, capping off a 2-0 weekend and a 5-1 homestand.
Over the weekend, the Lombard, Ill., product led the team in service aces (4), kills (33), kills per set (4.71), points (39.0), points per set (5.57) and serve percentage among those with 30 or more attempts (.900). Weltin also recorded a .338 attacking percentage, eight digs, one solo block in Friday's match and two block assists the following day.
