Watts, Adam Receive Weekly Track Honors from Atlantic 10

FAIRFAX, Va. – Talisha Watts and Paul Adam finished above the rest of the competition on Saturday at the George Mason Spring Invitational.

On Tuesday, the Patriots' two winners over the weekend were honored by the Atlantic 10 Conference. Watts, after winning the high jump, was named the A-10 Co-Women's Performer of the Week. Adam, victorious in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, shared Men's Rookie Co-Performer of the Week honors. This is the second time each has been honored by the A-10 this season.

Watts, a graduate student from Blacksburg, Va., finished first with a leap of 1.77 meters. She shattered her previous personal-best mark of 1.70 meters and tied Nichole Brown and Lisa Wright for second-highest jump in program history. Watts, the reigning A-10 outdoor champ, currently has the best mark in the A-10 this season and ranks 16th in the East Region.

Adam, a redshirt freshman from Mechanicsburg, Va., won the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the second time this season. He won on Saturday with a time of 9:28.47 – 12 seconds ahead of the next finisher. It was just two seconds off his personal-best time of 9:26.72, which he logged two weeks ago at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va.

The Patriots have the weekend off before returning to action on April 22-23 at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.
