Weekend Rescheduled as Baseball Travels to South Carolina

With the cancellation of Mason's series vs. Cornell at Spuhler Field this weekend, the George Mason baseball team will travel to Lexington, SC for the Lexington Country Tournament featuring games against Delaware, Canisius and Morehead State.

The Patriots enter the weekend with a record of 1-5 after dropping games to Wake Forest, UNCW and Western Carolina last weekend at the Hughes Bros. Challenge in Wilmington, NC. In six games senior Luke Willis is batting .360 and leads the team with nine hits, seven runs scored and four stolen bases. Freshman Tyler Nelin smacked his first homerun of the season on Sunday and has six hits in 11 at bats in 2015. John Williams sports a 1.42 ERA in two starts with nine strikeouts and 12 2/3 innings pitched.

The Patriots hold a 34-38 all-time record record against the Blue Hens. Delaware has only managed to play two games this season due to weather cancelations and have a 3-0 victory over Georgetown to go along with a 3-2 loss against Wake Forest. The staff has an ERA of 1.59 through the first two games while the offense has a batting average of .172.

Mason is originally scheduled to host Canisius in Fairfax for a three game series from April 17-19 and will get a preview of the Golden Griffins on Saturday. The Patriots are 3-0 all-time against Canisius, who enter the weekend with a record of 4-3. Ryan Stekl and Jack Massa are each batting over .400 this season and Connor Panas and Anthony Massicci have each scored eight runs. Alex Godzak is 2-0 with a 1.74 ERA in two starts.
