Last time they met: Both teams have already met once this season, on February 26 where Mason won 2-1, led by a complete game from Jared Gaynor. The Patriots are 7-4 all-time against the Lancers.

Mason and Longwood play the second of a home-and-home this season Tuesday. The Patriots won the first contest back on February 26 by the score of 2-1 for Mason's first win in the state of Virginia. Gaynor tossed his first complete game of the season, allowing one run on five hits wih five strikeouts. 

The Green and Gold played three games last week, battling UMass as conference opponents for the first time. Mason won the first two games 12-7 and 7-0, respectively, before the Minutemen grabbed game three 9-1. Mason currently sits tied for third in the Atlantic 10 Confernce with VCU at a mark of 13-6. Saint Joseph's leads the confernce with 15-5 A-10 record followed by Saint Louis at 14-6. 

Longwood is a winner in six of its previous eight contests and completes its series with Duke on Monday before Tuesday's game vs. Mason. Matt Dickason has started all 46 games for the Lancers and leads with a batting average of .332. Brandon Delk and Kyri Washington have each batted in 32 runners while Delk has blasted eight homeruns this season and Washington seven, both top-five in the Big South Conference. 

After Tuesday's matchup the Patriots prepare for a big weekend at home, hosting first place Saint Joe's for a weekend series along Youth Baseball Day on Saturday, May 10 and Senior Day on Sunday, May 11.
