ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The George Mason wrestling team placed 11th overall and Greg Flournoy placed third overall at 157lbs. at the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md. on Saturday.
Chattanooga won the tournament with a score of 108.5, outscoring Princeton, Ohio and Wisconsin by no more than four points. Mason placed 11th 40.5 points overall.
Flournoy won his first three matches in decisions of 6-5, 6-2 and 7-0 before falling to Aaron Walker of The Citadel 6-2 in the main bracket. He bound back with a 13-4 major decision and a 7-4 decision over Jacob Crawford from UNC for third overall.
Jake Kettler also placed, grabbing fifth overall at 285lbs. Kettler won his first three matches, two of which were pins, before falling to eventual champion Connor Medbery from Wisconsin. He made his way through the wrestleback bracket and defeated Anthony Vizcarrondo for fifth.
Vincent Rodriguez won a total of three matches at 133lbs. as well as Konbeh Koroma at 149lbs. For complete brackets and team scores, please click here.
