News and Notes

The George Mason women's basketball team looks to snap a three game losing streak when the Patriots return to action Saturday afternoon at UAB. This is just the third time the programs will meet with the series currently knotted up at one win a piece. Mason took the most recent meeting with a 58-55 victory over the Blazers at the Patriot Center in Dec. of 2012.

Saturday marks the Patriots fourth straight road game as they look for their first win in the month of December.  Sophomore Taylor Brown leads the team with 17.8 points per game and 54 assists on the season while fifth-year senior Janaa Pickard is the lone Patriot averaging a double-double with 14.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.

The Blazers head into Saturday afternoon's matchup fresh off a 58-43 win over the High Point Panthers Tuesday night improving their record to 7-4 on the season. Senior forward Karisma Chapman leads the way with 17.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Mason will take a week off for the Christmas holiday before heading to East Tennessee Sat. Dec. 28, at 8:30 P.M. The Patriots will then close out 2013 at Georgia Southern on Dec. 30.
