The George Mason men's 4x400m relay wrapped up competition at the final day of
the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field championships on the campus of Drake University with a seventh-place finish.
The team of senior Nick Vaughn, junior George Empty, senior
Ja-Vell Bullard and junior David Verburg crossed the finish line in a time of
3:03.93 to finish in seventh place. The University of Florida won the event with
a time of 3:00.02, and was followed by USC (3:00.64) and LSU (3:01.21) in the
The relay concludes its strong season after capturing a CAA
title while finishing second at the IC4A and NCAA East Regional Championships.
It recorded its best time of the season on Thursday, 3:02.94, after finishing
second in the third of three heats to automatically advance them to today's
Mason concluded its season with a strong showing at the
National Championships, as the relay was joined by a fourth-place finish from Verburg
in the 400m dash, a ninth-place finish by Lavell Handy in the long jump and the
women's 4x400m relay finishing 18th.
