Mason Golf Currently in Fifth Place at ODU/OBX Tournament

POWELLS POINT, NC--The Mason golf team is currently tied for fifth place at the ODU/Outerbanks Collegiate played at the par 72, 6,535 yard course Kilmarlic Golf Club. The Patriots shot a team 299 and are tied with Radford and Elon, just one stroke back of VCU in the 18-team tournament.

Georgia Southern's Scott Wolfes fired a first round six-under 66 to lead after the first of three rounds and the Eagles of Georgia Southern are in first place after shooting 290, five strokes over second place ODU and Richmond who are at 295.

Leading the way for the Patriots are Christian Bech and Casey Thompson, who each shot even-par 72 in the first round. They are tied for seventh place overall on the leaderboard.

Wolfes leads the event by three strokes over Stuart Kaufman of Elon and Jake McNulty of VCU, both shot 69, followed by ODU's Randall at 70, the Ben Feld of Drexel and Colin McDade of Richmond are at 71.

There are 36 more holes in the tournament with 18 on both Monday and Tuesday.
