Mason Drops CAA Match to Delaware

NEWARK, Del. - - The Patriots men's tennis team dropped a conference match to Delaware 5-2 today at the UD Field House Tennis Courts. Delaware improved to 7-6 overall this season. Mason slipped to 10-9 on the year, 2-1 in the CAA.

The Blue Hens swept the doubles action as Troy Beneck and Andre Vorobyov got by Jorge Osuna and Jordan Borsanyi 8-3 in the first flight. In the second flight, Courtney Scott and Chris Hincker completed the sweep with an 8-5 win over Kevin McMillen and Christopher Borden.

The Patriots earned two points in singles action, as both Taylor Sargent and Steven Hyre picked up wins in three sets. Delaware's Chris Hincker picked up the first set of the fourth flight 7-6 (6) over Sargent, but the Mason freshman rallied back to earn the point, winning the second set 6-1 and tiebreaker 10-7. Hyre won his first set 2-6, and then lost the second 6-2 against Ryan Kent, but in the end, Hyre won 10-6.

Mason will play its last regular season match at home on Wednesday, April 13.
