FAIRFAX, Va. – Former George Mason University men's basketball standout
Jalen Jenkins has signed a contract to begin his professional career in Iceland.
Jenkins will compete in the Iceland Premier League (known as Domino's deildin) for powerhouse club KR Reykjavik. The team has captured the last four league titles and has won 16 championships in its history.
Jalen and KR Reykjavik will compete in the FIBA Europe Cup in 2018.
Jenkins recently put the finishing touches on a stellar career at Mason. A four-year contributor who put together a banner season in 2016-17, Jenkins ranks t-6
th all time at Mason in games played (128) and is tied for ninth in blocks (91) with Jai Lewis.
He is 12
th all time at Mason in rebounding (706) and posted the seventh-best field goal percentage mark in Patriot history as a senior in 2016-17 (.612, 158-258).
Jenkins tallied 12.0 points and 6.1 rebounds per game this past season in 27.7 minutes per contest. The Brooklyn, N.Y., product was a critical contributor to a team that posted the 13th 20-win season in program history and ranked as one of the 20 most improved teams in the nation in 2016-17.
