FAIRFAX, Va. – After a four-season hiatus, the George Mason University men's basketball team will renew its longstanding series with William & Mary this December.

The Patriots will host the Tribe on Wednesday, December 6, inside EagleBank Arena. It will mark the 67th meeting all time between the former CAA rivals.

William & Mary returns eight letterwinners from a 2016-17 squad that posted a 17-14 record and a 10-8 mark in CAA play.

The Patriots lead the all-time series 39-27, highlighted by a 68-59 victory in Richmond on March 10, 2008. That game clinched the CAA Tournament title for Mason and sent the Patriots to the 2008 NCAA Tournament.

Mason has captured the past four meetings between the programs. The teams last met on February 23, 2013, with Mason picking up a 60-58 win inside EagleBank Arena.

About The Patriots
George Mason put together a turnaround campaign in 2016-17 while putting together the 13th 20-win season in school history. In head coach Dave Paulsen's second season leading the program, Mason set a new program record for Atlantic 10 victories (9) and its 20 overall wins were the most by the program since 2012-13. After winning 11 games total and five A-10 contests in 2015-16, Mason ranked as of the nation's 20 most improved teams this past season. The Patriots return three starters and eight letter winners overall heading into the 2017-18 campaign.
