FAIRFAX, Va - The 2017 schedule of the Cherry Blossom Classic, which will be hosted by George Mason University's softball team, will be cut in half due to a drastic drop in temperatures this weekend.

Initially, Mason was scheduled to play Akron and Cornell once in each day of the round-robin tournament. However, due to the freezing temperatures expected all day Saturday those games and the neutral-site game between the Zips and the Big Red have been canceled. This is the second time in three years that the Cherry Blossom Classic has been affected due to weather.

Sunday's schedule remains unaffected by the cancelation of Saturday's games and will allow each team to play two games at the George Mason Softball Complex.
