FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason University men's basketball team (18-10, 8-7) wraps up a two-game road swing with a 20-mile trip to George Washington (15-13, 7-8) for a Sunday showdown in Foggy Bottom.

Tip-off between the Patriots and Colonials inside the Smith Center is set for 2 p.m. Sunday's game will be broadcast on Facebook Live. In addition, Bill Rohland will call the game on the A-10 Digital Network, with coverage beginning at 1:45 p.m.

* In a critical A-10 showdown, the Patriots (8-7) and Colonials (7-8) are separated by just one game in the league standings.

* Mason has set a new program record with eight A-10 wins (previous record was 5). The Patriots also have eclipsed their win total from the 2015-16 season (11) by a significant margin. Mason is one of the nation's top-10 most improved teams in comparison to last season's results.

* The Patriots are 17-7 in their last 24 contests.

* Mason is 9-4 combined in road and neutral site contests this season and 9-6 in games played inside EagleBank Arena.

* Last time out, the Patriots could not complete a second half comeback during Tuesday's 83-70 setback at Dayton.

* Sophomore Jaire Grayer led Mason with 13 points, a career-high 13 rebounds and a season-best four assists in the game.

* Grayer is a big contributor to Mason's 8-7 A-10 season. In conference games, he is second in the A-10 in 3-point percentage (.468, 36-77), fifth in 3pt FG made/game (2.4) and 10th in rebounding (6.6 rpg). He has scored 10+ points in 13 of 15 A-10 games this season.  

* Since double-doubles have been kept by the NCAA (2009-10), the record for a guard is 20 (Andre Roberson - Colorado). Marquise Moore's 17 are the most by a player 6-2 and under (next closest is 11).

* Two Mason freshmen have hit their stride over the past few games. Ian Boyd is averaging 7.5 points and shooting 46.2% in 19.5 minutes over the past two games. Karmari Newman is averaging 9.3 points and shooting 45.5% (5-11) from deep over the past three.

* Mason is shooting 83.4 percent (131-157) from the free throw line over the past six games. The Patriots are 56th nationally in free throw percentage (.741) and gets 23.5 percent of its points from the line (19th nationally).

HISTORY vs. GEORGE WASHINGTON
Sunday's game marks the 20th all-time meeting in the Revolutionary Rivalry. GW holds a 17-2 advantage in the series. George Mason and George Washington are separated by just 20 miles. The Patriots are 2-5 against the Colonials at home and 0-12 on the road. GW has captured all seven meetings in A-10 play, including an 87-68 victory  on Jan. 25 in Fairfax.Marquise Moore (15 pts, 10 reb), Otis Livingston II (17 points, 7-14 FG) and Ian Boyd (12 pts) led the Patriots in the game.

A LOOK AT THE COLONIALS (15-13, 7-8 A-10)
George Washington was picked eighth out of 14 teams in the 2016-17 Atlantic 10 preseason poll. The Colonials posted an 8-5 non-conference record. GW has won three of its past four games. The Colonials rank behind only Mason in A-10 rebounding margin (+5.7). The Colonials are led by graduate student Tyler Cavanaugh, who paces the team in scoring (17.3 ppg), rebounding (8.0 rpg) and is second in assists (2.1 apg). Junior Yuta Watanabe chips in 11.4 ppg and 5.0 rpg, while Seton Hall transfer Jaren Sina leads the team in assists (3.1 apg). Sina also averages 9.3 points and shoots 38.7 percent (53-137) from 3-point territory.

Mason will play its final home game of the 2016-17 when the Patriots host Duquesne on Senior Night Wednesday. Tip-off between the Patriots and Dukes is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Of the the six teams in Mason's portion of the league ledger, the Patriots have the third toughest remaining schedule based on the conference records of remaining opponents.
