FAIRFAX, Va. - For the second time in as many weeks, senior
Marquise Moore has been named College Sports Madness Atlantic 10 Player of the Week.
Moore also received the honor last Monday after leading the Patriots to a 3-1 record.
This past week, Moore averaged 15.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists during a 2-0 stretch for George Mason. He also converted 14-of-17 (.824) free throw attempts.
Moore opened the week with a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with nine points in the Patriots' 54-50 win at Northern Iowa Wednesday. The nation's top rebounding guard also dished out five assists and made 5-of-6 free throw attempts to help hand UNI just its second loss in 28 all-time November games inside the McLeod Center. He hit 2-of-2 free throw attempts in the game's final minute to help ice the game for the Patriots. The win also was just the 11th ever (in 67 games) by a non-conference foe in the arena.
On Saturday vs. Mercer, Moore tallied game highs in points (21) and rebounds (12) while making 6-of-11 field goal attempts and 9-of-11 free throws in a 79-68 victory. With the performance, he is now the only guard in the country with five double-doubles on the year.
Moore and the Patriots return to action Wednesday (7 p.m.) with a contest at Penn State. The game will air live on the Big Ten Network.
