Redshirt freshman forward Kevin Foster has decided to transfer from the George Mason men's basketball team and will pursue a playing career at a school closer to his home in Lakeland, Fla. Foster had played in 26 games this season with one start and he was named CAA Rookie of the Week on February 22.
"Kevin Foster has elected to transfer," said George Mason men's basketball head coach Jim Larranaga. "He hopes to get back closer to his home in Florida. Kevin is a quality young man and we wish him all the best in the future."
Foster scored a career-high 22 points on 11 of 16 shooting with nine rebounds against William & Mary on Feb. 16. He followed that up with his first career start and his first career double-double, recording 13 points and 10 rebounds. He scored in double figures one other time on the season with 15 points and nine rebounds against Georgia Tech.
Foster came to Mason in the same recruiting class as Andre Cornelius, Mike Morrison and Ryan Pearson, but he sat out last season earning a non-medical redshirt.
